Description
- First lesson of the year and
first time using English Notebook 1. Went mostly according to plan, save that instead of the "Run for Your Friends" warmup, I
did "TPR" because it was too small of a room. If you're giving this lesson, make sure you learn how to say hello in the other
langauges before class. I thought the "Hello Chant" and "Meishi Kaku [activity where the kids made and exchanged business
cards] were excellent."

- Description
- Second lesson on expressing ne's feelings (hungry, tired, happy, fine) using the English Notebook. Used the
GenkiEnglish.net "How are you?" song as a warmup and was a natural introduction to the lesson where students learned new ways
to express themsleves.

- Description
- Pages 16-18 of Lesson 3 of the English Notebook on learning "How many?" and the numbers 1-20. Overall I didn't find
the activities here to be particularly useful. They don't focus enough on actually learning the numbers and they are only
moderately fun.

introducing "Do you like?" along with some food vocabulary. Kids learned the material too quickly (a good thing), so I
scrapped the worksheet we were going to play in favor of the "I like pink fish" game, which practices the grammar point, but
in a little more difficult way. Closed out with hangman, where I was surprised to see the studetns being able to guess "egg"
with just "e."

- Students quizzing eachother.
- Next Time
- Have a S lead the motions of the "How are you" song.
- More dynamic review activity.
- Find way to incorporate more english into the memory game (perhaps every card the child touches they have to say its
color?).

- Lesson where we introduced the days of the week and the phrase "What day is it today?" with a few activities that
worked alright. After that did a phonics activity I found on Englipedia. Still working with ways to introduce the concept of
phonics, but the first half of the activity we did do worked well. Closed the lesson out by singing "Are you
sleeping?"

Description
- First JHS English class for first graders. Took it very slow. Focused on the basics like greetings, "my name
is," and some phonics. Used the paper airplane game to try to make learning the material more fun for the student. JTE had
the excellent idea to teach the answer to "How are you?" as only "I am fine. You?" as opposed to the unnecessarily long "I am
fine, thank you. And you?" Student picked it up much quicker as a result. Chose not to do TPR or show the ghostbusters video
(Parts 4 and 5 of the LP), but did teach him "Rock, Paper, Scissors" which student enjoyed to the point that we played outside of class.

Description
- First lesson of the year with the second graders. "English Across the World" speech went over surprisingly well,
as did everyone talking about their spring vacations. The "Run for Your Friends" game officially is dead with these kids,
though, having been played too many times. Vocabulary was tough, as was the reading. Tried a new technique having the
students repeat the sentences twice after me. That part did not work too, well. What did work well, was how next the JTE had
the students read sentences individually on their own after everyone did the double repetition.
