Checking In #19

my weekly column

UP-N INBOUND -- Dented last Thursday about the Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) activity I made about Korean baseball. Combined a YouTube video, Wikipedia article and Flickr! picture into an activity that worked pretty well during a tutoring lesson.

Had a sensational wet & spicy beef in Skokie at Portillo's. Jeffrey's recommendation. Whilst enjoying my savory Italian beef I read the inspiring tale of Portillo's founder. Four years invested working a hot dog stand with water via a garden hose turned into a 3-state restaurant chain, boutique cafes and shopping mall. All, as noted, done without financing or outside investors.

Reminded me of similar tales of practicioners focusing on their craft independently for 4+ years then having it pay off big, like Warren Buffett, Vidal Sassoon and OFWGKTA.
